Track Workout
Tonight we did something different. We met on the track and did a warmup mile (4 laps) and then did our stretching. Then we broke up into 4 groups and each person was teamed up with another. My group (wave 1 - strong and steady) was teamed up with wave 3. Then we did relays - where each of us would run a lap and then the other would run a lap until we each had run 8 laps.
The goal of this exercise was to work on pacing and for us to try to keep a consistent pace each time we ran a lap.
Well, I ran too fast for the first couple of laps. On the 4th lap, Coach Marie timed me and I got my own watch working. My times from the fourth lap were:
- 4 - 2:33
- 5 - 2:46
- 6 - 2:46
- 7 - 2:54
- 8 - 2:36
I need to work on consistency and now know what to expect. I was surprised at how fast I was going.
The hardest part was that my partner was much faster than me so I didn't get much rest time.
After the relay portion we did 4 laps of cool down and then stretched again and I came home.
